Annapurna eyes TV splash with Garbo/Dietrich project
After carving out a successful corner of the film world with features like "American Hustle," "Her," "Zero Dark Thirty" and "The Master," Annapurna Pictures announced this week that it was looking to break into TV production.
Angela Robinson and Alex Kondracke are working on an untitled drama about the intersecting lives of Hollywood icons Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich and will feature a slew of A-list names as they interact with the two stars.
Annapurna head Megan Ellison will executive produce, with Stephen Feder overseeing day-to-day on the project for the company.
“We’re so excited this project found a home at Annapurna,” blurb Robinson and Kondracke. “We couldn’t imagine a better partner than Megan Ellison and the folks at Annapurna to help us bring this series to life.”
It's unclear whether this will be a miniseries or series project, nor when Annapurna will be shopping it to networks.
