Antonio Banderas says 'Puss in Boots 2' has already started
Cats have nine lives -- including the adorably swashbuckler Puss in Boots," voices by Antonio Banderas in the "Shrek" films.
While DreamWorks Animation concluded its most lucrative franchise with 2010’s "Shrek Forever After," Banderas reprised his role as the feisty feline in the 2011 spinoff "Puss in Boots," which earned $554 million globally.
A sequel was inevitable, and banderas says that it's already well underway.
"We started the new one four days ago," he told Collider. "It did incredibly well with audiences and critics, all around the world, and the character is going to keep going. With Jeffrey [Katzenberg, head of DreamWorks Animation], whatever he wants. He’s one of my favorite producers. This character was born almost 12 years ago. We have had a lot of fun with him, and it seems that audiences do, too. So, we’re doing another one."
NOthing else about the sequel has been confirmed but it's unlikely it will be in theaters anytime before 2016.
