Record-breaking return for 'Dexter'
Is it possible for America to miss a serial killer? If so, the nation seems to have had a hankering for Dexter Morgan.
Last Sunday (Sept. 27) night's fourth season premiere of "Dexter" drew 1.521 million viewers to Showtime in its initial 9 p.m. airing. That was up 25 percent over the show's Season Three premiere and became highest single-telecast delivery for the network since the ratings changeover in 2004, beating the "Dexter" S3 finale (1.506MM).
Adding in the show's 11 p.m. encore, "Dexter" pulled in 1.924 million viewers on its premiere night.
With "Dexter" breaking records, it's no surprise that the third season premiere of "Californication" also set records. In its first airing, the David Duchovny comedy drew 821,000 viewers, up by 57 percent over the Season Two premiere. Factoring in an encore airing immediately afterwards, "Californication" was watched by 1.203 million viewers on its first night.
