'Inception' coming to IMAX, no one surprised

Christopher Nolan loves his IMAX.  The "Dark Knight" director embraced the big screen format, um, big time on the monster hit by shooting a number of specific sequences using the wide frame camera.  He also had his first run at the Caped Crusader, "Batman Begins," available in the format.  Now, Nolan is bringing his new Leonardo DiCaprio thriller "Inception" to IMAX as well when the Sci-Fi flick opens on July 16, 2010.  Considering "Dark Knight" grossed $65 million alone on IMAX Warner Bros. won't be complaining.

IMAX also announced Walt Disney's 3-D "Tron Legacy" will open day and date on IMAX on Dec. 17, 2010 and that "Spider-Man 4" will double in the format when it debuts in May, 2011.  At this point, the company has more demand then screens causing exclusive runs to finish quicker than both studios and the distributor would like.  Will they be able to increase their IMAX presence enough to handle multiple releases by next summer?  Unlikely, but 2011 may be another story.
