David Fincher got himself out of directing the new "Spider-Man," but is pleased Sony Pictures isn't going the conventional route on the super hero reboot.  Talking to MTV this week, Fincher noted, ""It's risky.  They're taking some risks. It's not like they're [getting] a conventional director. They're going at it in a different way... They're rolling the dice. I think that's always exciting."

One of the stars of Fincher's upcoming drama "The Social Network," Andrew Garfield, was selected to play the new Peter Parker and while Fincher "can't imagine him in Spandex" he did go on record saying, "He's a wonderful actor, he's incredibly skilled and empathic and a lovely guy. So it's nice to see that."

The new "Spider-Man" will be directed by Marc Webb ("500 Days of Summer" and will hit theaters on July 3, 2012.
