Could Norman Osborn return in 'Amazing Spider-Man 2'?

Industrialist-turned-supervillain Norman Osborn is only referred to in "Amazing Spider-Man" (and he's one of the possible candidates for the mysterious figure in the shadows at the film's conclusion), but director Marc Webb has dropped some hints that Osborn will show up in the upcoming sequel.

Hot on the heels of the news that Jamie Foxx will likely be playing the villainous Electro, Webb told Superherohype how he felt about the films' characters. "I like Electro. I'm fascinated by Norman Osborn and the different inflections of him. And Harry. Mary Jane and Gwen are always interesting to me." Rumors are now swirling that Webb and Sony have started looking for an actor to play Norman Osborn, as well as his son, Harry.

Norman Osborn was played by Willem Dafoe in Sam Raimi's trilogy, while Harry was played by James Franco.

In "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," Garfield is returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and he'll have his hands full in the romance department, as Shailene Woodley ("The Descendants") will play Mary Jane Watson, while Emma Stone will reprise her role as Gwen Stacey. Will he also find himself facing multiple villains again?

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will be released May 2, 2014.
