My Morning Jacket's Jim James working on solo album
Kentucky band My Morning Jacket's latest album, "Circuital" was released just last year, with the group touring heavily in support of it. Soon, however, frontman Jim James will turn his focus on his upcoming debut solo album.
"It's done," James told Rolling Stone. "I think it's gonna come out in early February of next year. I think people who are fans of My Morning Jacket will obviously recognize some things on there, my voice and stuff like that. It's got some mellow stuff on there, but it's also got some really different stuff. I'm really proud of it. I think it's got some different soundscapes that I've been into that maybe have been hidden on some Jacket records."
He previously released an EP tribute to George Harrison under his pen name Yim Yames. He also collaborated with Conor Oberst, M. Ward and others on the Monsters of Folk album and tour a few years back.
In the meantime, MMJ will continue touring "Circuital" across North America and Europe this summer and fall, with a New Year's Eve show in Boston being cooked up.
