Dwayne Johnson: 'GI Joe: Retaliation' shooting new scenes to capitalize on 3D

It came as somewhat of a surprise last week when it was announced that Paramount's upcoming sequel "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" was being moved from June 29 to next March.

The sequel is now going to be post-converted to 3D, but the studio will also use that extra time for additional shooting, according to star Dwayne Johnson (via Collider).

After a fan asked if the delay will be worth the wait, The Rock tweeted his answer "It will be," and added, "Designing new scenes to enhance 3D."

Does that translate to re-shoots, or are director John M. Chu and his cast taking part in all-new scenes that can only be fully appreciated in 3D?

"Retaliation," the sequel to the 2009 "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," also stars returning cast members Channing Tatum, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee and newcomers Adrianne Palicki, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, D.J. Cotrona, and Bruce Willis.
