Hayden Panettiere and Chace Crawford might "Footloose"
Chace Crawford. Hayden Panettiere. Director Kenny Ortega. Yep, that might be the trio to reinvent the musical movie version of "Footloose." EOnline reports that Crawford, who is pretty much locked into the role of Ren McCormack Kevin Bacon made famous back in the 80s, has screen tested opposite Carwford for the female lead of Ariel Moore, the small town girl who falls for the ex-city boy fighting for everyone's right to dance and, um, sing.
Panetteire, who has a busy day job on "Heroes," isn't a definite for the role, but the report says producers were really impressed with her singer. They should have checked iTunes. Pannetteire released a single last year, "Wake Up Call," that went nowhere, but she's certainly has a set of pipes.
No official announcement has been made on either Panettiere or Crawford, but Paramount is hoping to begin filming the new "Footloose" this summer.
