Saying goodbye to Ryan Phillippe and the success of "Bright Star" has been good for Abbie Cornish. The 27-year-old Aussie actress has just landed two high profile new parts.
First, Variety reports that Cornish will star in "W.E.," the period piece Madonna is directing about the 1936 marriage between American Wallis Simpson and King Edward VII that almost tore England's monarchy a part. It's unclear who Cornish is playing, especially since Simpson was 40-years-old when she and Edward were wed.
The second project Cornish is on board will find her co-starring with Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper in Neil Burger's thriller "Dark Fields." The flick centers on an unsuccessful writer (Cooper) who starts taking an experimental drug with strange side effects.
Cornish will next be heard in Zack Snyder's CG animated "Legend of the Guardians" and then seen in the filmmaker's action/musical/drama "Sucker Punch."
