Fox eyeing 'New Mutants' movie
Fox is ready for even more mutants.
After reinvigorating the "X-Men" franchise last summer with "X-Men: First Class," the studio is going ahead with a sequel, and is finally going forward with "The Wolverine," with Hugh Jackman reprising his role as the ornery title mutant.
Now, another group of Marvel heroes may find themselves on the big screen.
In an interview with Collider, Fox's Tom Rothman "all but confirmed" that a "New Mutants" announcement will be coming this summer. He was quoted as saying, "All I have to say is, I agree with you in your assessment of the potential in a lot of these characters."
The New Mutants started as an early '80s off-shoot of the X-Men series, and -- as the title suggests -- featured a team of Xavier’s young students with diverse superheroic powers. Later, the popular '90s comic "X-Force" was spun off of the first "New Mutants" series.
