The two-time Oscar nominee is reportedly Warner Bros.' first choice to play Jane in a new version of “Tarzan,” according to the NY Post.
The revisionist take on the Edgar Rice Burroughs stories finds Tarzan adjusting to a "normal" life in Victorian London, only to be sent back into the Congo -- on her majesty's request -- to help investigate the actions of a vicious warlord.
Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and, most recently, Alexander Skarsgard have all been rumored to be in the running to don the famous loincloth for the reboot. Samuel L. Jackson is also rumored to be close to signing in a role as an mercenary who teams with Tarzan. "Harry Potter" vet David Yates recently signed on as director.
Chastain recently starred in "Mama" and will soon be seen in "Miss Julie."
