Keanu Reeves finds his "Jekyll"
The 19th Century is becoming popular. Robert Downey, Jr. has "Sherlock Holmes" in the bag, Benecio Del Toro is reviving the "Wolfman" and now "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" not only has one adaption in the works at Universal, but two!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keanu Reeves is attached to star in a new from the screenwriter of "Revolutionary Road," Justin Haythe. Nicolas Winding Refn, who recently made a splash with the Brit indie "Bronson," will direct. Details of the project are being kept under wraps, so it's unclear if the new incarnation will be period or a more modern take.
Amazingly though, Universal is also still keeping another reboot, this one from Guillermo del Toro, in development. Del Toro will be swamped over the next few years with "The Hobbit" and a few other projects, so the idea is for the second version to appear quite a few years down the road.
No word on when Reeves' "Jeckyll" will edge toward production.
