'Life,' 'Band of Brothers' star finds 'Homeland' in Showtime pilot
Damian Lewis has landed the lead role in Showtime's high-profile thriller pilot "Homeland," according to Deadline.com.
Based on an Israeli format, "Homeland" focuses on a Marine (Lewis) who spends eight years as a POW in Iraq and returns home a changed man. Claire Danes has the female lead, playing a CIA officer who begins to question the nature of those changes.
The "Homeland" pilot, written by "24" veterans Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, also stars Mandy Patinkin, David Harewood and Laura Fraser.
Lewis was the star of the critically admired drama "Life," which ran for two seasons on NBC. He also was one of the featured stars of HBO's "Band of Brothers."
