On Thursday (Aug. 4) afternoon, as reports of imminent cancellation loomed, Syfy renewed "Eureka" for a sixth season.
Of course, there's a catch: Syfy's "Eureka" renewal was only for six episodes, down at least tentatively from the dramedy's fifth season. The truncated season led several publications to report that the sixth season of "Eureka" would be its last.
"[Producers] Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia have brought a creative vitality to 'Eureka' that has kept it fresh and inventive," Mark Stern, president of original content at Syfy, in a statement to THR. "Although we do not have a commitment beyond six episodes for the sixth season, we are hopeful that this will not be the end of the franchise."
Syfy is currently airing the second half of the fourth "Eureka" season, so frankly we don't need to worry about any of this for a while.
