Robert Rodriguez rebooting 'Predator' franchise
Perhaps realising the "Alien vs. Predator" series was not the best longterm investment for the studio's signature Sci-Fi franchises, 20th Century Fox has recruited Robert Rodriguez ("Sin City") to re-launch the "Predator" franchise. Rodgriguez has written a new script, "Predators," which will but the focus back on the dreadlock-sporting alien hunters that Arnold Schwarzenegger tamed back in the original 1987 film.
It's unclear if Rodriguez will direct the project though. As usual, he's got lots of things "in the works" including an independently financed "Machete" flick (a spinoff from "Grindhouse") and the Sci-Fi thriller "Nervewracker" that Dimension Films wants released in 2010. Rodriguez's next film is the family comedy "Shorts" which hits theaters later this summer.
