Weinstein wants Adele or Katy Perry to make film debut in Paul Potts biopic
While the film may be about "Britain's Got Talent" performer-turned-Opera star Paul Potts, all eyes will be on who producer Harvey Weinstein gets to play Potts' wife, Julie-Ann Cooper.
The movie mogul has expressed his interest in wooing either Adele or her fellow music superstar Katy Perry for the role.
"I was talking to Katy about a new project, a possible dramatic role in the Paul Potts movie, which will be shooting in England soon," Weinstein told the NY Post. "We’d really like someone like Katy or Adele to play the role of Potts’ wife, and Katy seemed genuinely interested."
The film would mark the official acting debut for Perry and Adele, although the former has appeared in several films and TV shows as herself (and lent her voice to "The Smurfs").
Titled "One Chance," the film will be directed by David Frankel (“The Devil Wears Prada," “Marley & Me").
Meanwhile, Grammy champ Adele has expressed an interest in performing a duet with Brit singer George Michael for his upcoming album. Details to come.
