Lady Gaga performing Japanese gig for charity
Lady Gaga may is paying some penance with new single “Judas” this weekend, but she’ll be raising money for charity this summer. Mother Monster will be taking the stage outside of Tokyo on June 25 to benefit the Japan Red Cross.
The MTV “Video Music Aid Japan” event replaces its annual Video Music Awards, and will be hosted by J-pop stars AKB48, to be broadcast across the earthquake and tsunami-ravaged nation. Additionally, a one-hour version will air across the globe during an installment of MTV World Stage.
Gaga has been raising funds on her own to benefit Japan, selling wristbands through her website that urge “Pray for Japan.”
Gaga’s album “Born This Way” is out on May 23.
