Science has committed to airing the second season of "An Idiot Abroad," a less-than-surprising pickup for what has become the network's highest-rated series ever.
Titled "An Idiot Abroad 2: The Bucket List," Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant send Karl Pilkington around the world to sample things that "you must experience before you die."
"I’ve never understood the ‘things to do before you die’ idea," says Pilkington in the Science press release. "If I was ill, I’d be in no mood to have a swim with a dolphin."
Adds Gervais, "We’re thrilled to return to Science for another grand experiment. It was hard work getting Karl to agree to another torture session, I mean series. It was time to give him a piece of the pie. It will most probably end up in his face. Most people think that the name of our production company, RiSK, is a combination of our initials. It’s also because there is a small chance that Karl could die."
"An Idiot Abroad 2: The Bucket List" will premiere on Science in early 2012. The first season premiered back in January and has been watched in some form by more than 20 million viewers.
