Mickey Rourke insists he didn't mean to insult Megan Fox and 'Passion Play'
Mickey Rourke's honesty got him in trouble again this week. The Oscar nominated actor attended the "Scream 4" premiere Monday night where a Vulture reporter asked him about his upcoming dramatic fantasy "Passion Play" which also stars Bill Murray and Megan Fox. Rourke was quoted as calling the film "terrible" and "you know, in your career and all the movies you make, you’re going to make dozens of terrible ones." And admitted the film is getting a limited release "because it's not very good."
When the reporter asked him about his co-star Megan Fox who he once called "one of the most talented actresses of all time" Rourke reportedly smirked and added the qualification "that I've worked with."
HitFix reviewed "Play" out of the Toronto Film Festival last year and, yes, it's a terrible movie. However, Rourke waited years to help friend and director Mitch Glazer get the project off the ground. The following day, he didn't take back what he said, but apologized for how it all went down.
Rourke remarked, ""Hey, guys. When I talked to you, I was at a party. It was loud and crowded, I was in a shitty mood and I was trying to get rid of your reporter. Mitch is one of my best friends since we were kids. I loved working with him and would do it again tomorrow. I don't know why I said that stupid shit. I love Mitch, I love Megan. My bad."
We prefer the honest Rourke ourselves. You?

April 16, 2011 at 10:56AM EST Reply to Commentactually, I'd prefer if you hateful blogs would lay off this movie. I actually SAW Passion Play at Toronto (unlike the rest of the rabid townsfolk with their pitchforks out) and loved it. So did the audience at my screening - why this level of hatred? It's not for everyone, but it is a beautiful, sad, well-acted film that will never have a chance... what an ugly cynical time we live in...

April 19, 2011 at 7:42PM EST Reply to CommentOk, I'd really like to know. Bill Murray is in this movie, he's playing a Dad who is dying of cancer. Something was waaay off in October at the Scream awards. It wasn't just his behavior in the video afterwards, but also his appearance at, and shortly after that. Then, there's Amy Poehler saying he can sit during a taping of her show, and then there's the Comedy Awards. His behavior there was very suspiscious. Then, there was 4/15 at the Riverdogs. In an interview, he mentions the afterlife. There's also a February article in the Montgomery Herald where mention is made which casts doubt on a golf tournament including Murray, mentioning his health. I really want to know. Is Bill Murray dying from a terminal illness? I did some research in WebMd from what I could see for myself, and my fear is he has pancreatic cancer. That would break my heart, but I hope he will be kind enough to say so if something is going on. I am asking because I care about it, and I care about him.
Thank you.
