Toldja: 'Bruno' will be rated R
Not that there was every any doubt, but Universal Studios can breathe a sigh of relief. After submitting a new cut of their upcoming comedy doc "Bruno," director Larry Charles and star Sacha Baron Cohen have had the picture's original NC-17 rating receded. The anticipated July release will now have a more appropriate R-rating. In explaining the rating, the official board reasoning is because of "pervasive strong and crude sexual content, graphic nudity and language" (like that's going to stop 14-year-olds from having mom and dad buy them a ticket). Charles and Cohen have been through this drama before. Their mega-hit "Borat" also received an NC-17 at first before a new edit also brought the film in with an R.
The much hyped "Bruno" opens nationwide on July 10.
