FX may or may not want Kyle Chandler for 'Powers' lead
Kyle Chandler hasn't signed on to play the lead in FX's "Powers" pilot.
Heck, Kyle Chandler hasn't even read the current script for FX's "Powers" pilot.
But Deadline ran a nicely planted news story this week saying that somebody somewhere at FX wants Kyle Chandler for "Powers," or at least wants Kyle Chandler to read the script for "Powers."
Based on Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's comic series, "Powers" focuses on two detectives who specialize in crimes involving people with superpowers. The pilot will be directed by Michael Dinner and is currently undergoing the latest in a long series of rewrites. When this latest rewrite -- apparently incorporating notes from Chandler -- is complete, perhaps some negotiations will take place.
Chandler spent the past five years starring in NBC and DirecTV's "Friday Night Lights," finally earning his first Emmy nomination last summer. He has reportedly turned down a number of network pilots in the past two development seasons, including the lead in FOX's "Terra Nova."
