'Iron Man 3' taps Drew Pearce as screenwriter

"Iron Man 3" has found a screenwriter. Drew Pearce has been brought on board to pen the script for the Marvel sequel, reports Deadline.com.

Robert Downey Jr. will once again star as billionaire-turned-superhero Tony Stark.

Shane Black, who helmed "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and wrote "Lethal Weapon," is set to direct. The film's plot details are under wraps. The first two films were directed by Jon Favreau, who has "Cowboys and Aliens" coming out this summer.

Pearce also wrote the script for the upcoming "Runaways," based on the Marvel comic series written by Brian K. Vaughan ("Y: The Last Man," TV's "Lost"). he also created the British TV series "No Heroics."

"Iron Man 3" opens nationwide May 3, 2013.
