Sam Worthington ready to play Sci-Fi 'Quartermain'
Wouldn't it be odd to discover Sam Worthington isn't a genre fan? The Aussie actor has made his name over the past year in three genre flicks: "Terminator: Salvation," "Avatar" and "Clash of the Titans." Worthington is already attached to play the leading role in "Dracula: Year Zero" and now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he'll suit up in a Sci-FI version of the classic literary hero Allan Quartermain in the appropriately titled, "Quartermain."
The new DreamWorks incarnation will be set in the far future where our hero returns to an abandoned Earth and embarks on a "King Solomon's Mines" like adventure across the globe. Think "National Treasure" meets a futuristic "Tomb Raider."
It's unclear how quickly "Quartermain" can make it to the screen. Right now, no director is attached to the project and Worthington is expected to begin shooting the sequel to "Avatar" sometime next year.
