Will Brad Pitt finally attend San Diego's Comic-Con?
There is a short list of superstars who haven't appeared at the annual San Diego Comic-Con. Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Adam Sandler, Matt Damon and George Clooney are just a few of them, but two big names might finally make the trek this July.
According to Heat Vision, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg has promised the studio's upcoming Nov. release "Megamind" will have a big presence at the convention. While many have been puzzled why DreamWorks Animation films has rarely used the publicity platform 125,000 attendees can provide with word of mouth while their competitors (cough,Pixar) always embraced it, "Megamind" is an opportunity the studio can't pass by.
With a wink or two at the Superman mythos, the new comedy tells the story of an evil alien scientist raised on earth, Megamind (voiced by Will Ferrell), who is constantly out to defeat his adversary Metroman (Brad PItt). And Tina Fey's along for the ride as a reporter who really doesn't seem to be impressed by either her dashing hero or constant kidnapper. What most fans would expect then is for both Pitt and Ferrell to show up at Comic-Con for the first time. But, we've been through this before.
Most observers thought Ferrell would appear to promote "Land of the Lost" the summer before its release as the film had already finished shooting, but he didn't show. More surprising, Pitt didn't appear to promote "Inglourious Basterds" last year. Considering the unclear box office prospects or the Tarantino film at the time, it was a stunner neither Pitt or any of the cast found the time to make it to SD. Will Pitt finally greet the Comic-Con faithful in Hall H or skip the event once again?
Stay tuned true believers...
