In fact, the Emmy nominated star will be directing the "Mad Men" premiere, which won't shoot until August and won't premiere until early 2012.
"The wheels have officially been set in motion to make that happen," Hamm tells TVLine.com
. "It’s a very exciting challenge that I’m looking forward to with a mixture of utter fear and excitement."
Hamm's "Mad Men" co-star John Slattery directed two episodes in the fourth season of "Mad Men."
