Surprise: Joss Whedon directed the final scene of 'Thor'

Want a hint of what Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" might look like?  Well, all you need to do is wait for the end credits of "Thor."  It appears Whedon, and not Kenneth Branagh, directed the post-credit sting featuring Stellan Skarsgard, Samuel L. Jackson and, surprise, Tom Hiddleston.

Skarsgard was in Cannes last week for the world premiere of Lars Von Trier's "Melancohlia" and talked to EMPIRE about how it all came about. What he wouldn't discuss, however,  is how his character will or won't be part of "The Avengers" storyline.

"I know what’s going to happen to my character in that film, but I’m not allowed to say anything," Skarsgard says.  "I’ll have to sell my house to pay the fines for that.”

You can watch the interview embedded below.

"The Avengers" opens nationwide on May 4, 2012.

Of course Branagh didn't direct the after credits scene. There were no dutch angles.
