Has CNN already targeted Piers Morgan to replace the departing Larry King? That was this week's hot media scuttlebutt.
According to the NY Post
(and a variety of other reports in different ways, shapes and forms), the "America's Got Talent" judge (and British interview show host) is on the verge of signing a three-year contract with CNN for between $6-8 million per year.
That would make Morgan an absolutely value for CNN, compared to the $10 million per year made by King, despite dropping ratings.
NBC had previously been in negotiations with Morgan to do some sort of interview show.
As of now, Larry King won't be leaving CNN til this fall and Morgan hasn't signed any sort of contract with CNN, so stay tuned for actual details if/when they become available.
