No new life on ABC for 'Old Christine,' 'Ghost Whisperer'
Two recent CBS castoffs aren't expected to be reborn on ABC, contrary to initial buzz.
According to Deadline.com, ABC has opted not to make a deal for Season Six of "The New Adventures of Old Christine," echoing the same decision the network already made on "Ghost Whisperer."
There had been rampant speculation after CBS cancelled the Julia Louis-Dreyfus Emmy winner that ABC would give it a new home. That speculation came from previous declarations to that effect by ABC brass. However, those declarations came following previous years in which ABC had failed to develop any live action comedy staples.
With "Modern Family," "Cougar Town" and "The Middle" coming back, plus a rising licensing fee, ABC was less enthusiastic this spring.
Repeats of "The New Adventures of Old Christine" will begin airing on Lifetime this fall.
