She's already played Lara Croft and Alexander the Great's mom, but will Angelina Jolie portray Cleopatra next? Oscar-winning uber producer Scott Rudin wants her to. The prolific prestige pic filmmaker has acquired the rights to the book "Cleopatra: A Life" by Stacy Schiff just for Jolie. Rudin's office told USA Today the screenplay is "being developed for and with Jolie." There's no official word from the "Wanted" star, but Schiff feels she'd be perfect to play the famous Egyptian Queen. As for her lover Marc Anthony? Schiff says her ideal choice is Jolie's beau Brad Pitt. While most studios would die for a pairing, the 1963 "Cleopatra" featured a similarly popular tabloid couple, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, and almost destroyed its distributor 20th Century Fox. The film was a huge hit, but couldn't recoup it's mammoth, at the time, $44 million budget. Jolie, Rudin and Schiff are hoping history won't repeat itself this time around.
