New 'Star Trek' game tied to 'Star Trek' sequel
There is still no official start date or script for J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" sequel, but that hasn't stopped Paramount Digital Entertainment from announcing the first video game tied into the reboot of the movie franchise. Just in time for next week's E3 convention, Paramount revealed the new Star Trek game will feature and original story and allow players to become Kirk or Spock in a co-op experience. All for X-Box 360, Playstation 3 and Windows PC gamers.
Written by BAFTA award winner and God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk, the new Star Trek game will find Kirk and Spock on a mission to stop a "legendary" enemy race from conquering the galaxy. The story was formulated in collaboration with movie producers and screenwriters Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman. It's unclear if the game will have a direct connection to the new film.
Dirgial Extremes, the company behind Bioshock 2 and The Darkness II, is developing the game with Abrams' Bad Robot, Damon Lindelof and K/O Paper Products. It is expected to hit consoles sometime next year.
