What do Katy Perry, the casts of 'Jersey Shore' and 'Glee,' Cher and Jesse Eisenberg have in common?
Host Chelsea Handler
MTV's recent choices for Masters of Ceremony Aziz Ansari and Russell Brand have made for good entertainers, but they sometimes made for dodgy hosts. E! show namesake Chelsea Handler's humor oscillates between catty and self-deprecating, venomous and comfortable, and on top of that, hosting is in her actual job title.
Furthermore, it's exciting to see a woman holding down a post at the MTV VMAs that only one other woman has done, solo: Roseanne Barr.
Handler up until now has cracked a few jokes of how she may start sleeping with various rappers and pop stars in the twilight of this opportunity (including, but not limited to Swizz Beatz, Eminem, Kid Rock and Justin Bieber) and went further to say, in a statement: "This has been a huge year for hip-hop and rap, and it is well-known that I have the closest ties with these communities musically and sexually." So I would not count out raunch. Yes, definitely raunch. And some much needed jabs at "Jersey Shore," appearances from Chunk and Chuy and deflection of come-ons from all sides.
