8. 'Kid Nation' (2007)
Concept: Kids aged 8 to 15 try to create a functional society in a town without adult supervision.
Bring it back because: Without seeing a second of footage, advocacy groups made it sound like CBS' 2007 swing-for-the-fences was legalized child torture. It wasn't. The exploitative moments were actually few and far between and even with the inevitable contrivances required to keep children safe and occupy their time, "Kid Nation" ended up being frequently compelling and provocative TV. The well-cast series was full of vivid characters and the choices they made were, almost without exception, more interesting than the behaviors of the grown-ups on "Survivor" or "Amazing Race." Perhaps now, without the fear of the unknown, "Kid Nation" could be looked at on its own merits, rather than judged because one kid accidentally had a sip of bleach.
