2. 'Project Greenlight' (2001, 2003, 2005)
Concept: First time filmmakers are given the chance to make and produce their own film.
Bring it back because: At the time the series ran, most movies were still being shot on film. This limited the scope and budget of what the winner could do (film was not cheap). Moreover, in the decade since, a whole generation has grown up with filmmaking tools on their own computers that their older peers couldn't dream of. Basically, the talent pool of visionary filmmakers is much larger than it was even in 2001. Plus, the difficulty in getting indie films made means there are tons of first time filmmakers looking for their chance to get their movie made. Also, on that same thought, what if it became a contest where established indie filmmakers competed for a budget to get their film made? Now, that would be very interesting indeed.
