Lana and Andy Wachowski
Biggest Hit: The "Matrix" trilogy
Comeback Vehicle: "Cloud Atlas'
Will It Work?: Critically, the film is already winning major fans as well as passionate detractors, and we would expect nothing less from this richly imagined but deeply demanding adaptation of David Mitchell's ambitious novel. They helped raise the independent financing for the film, and they are certainly invested in seeing it find a mass audience, but they also seem well aware of how hard a sell it's going to be. After what can be seen as a disappointing reaction to "Speed Racer" and the "Matrix" sequels (all of which have fans despite what is thought of as the mainstream reaction), they could use a big fat down the middle hit, and if "Cloud Atlas" is not that film, there's a good chance their next movie, the science-fiction action film "Jupiter Ascending," with Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, could fit the bill.
