10 outside-the-box considerations as the Academy votes

Performances that could use a look

Jude Law - 'Anna Karenina'

I feel like the most delicate and refined performance of Joe Wright's "Anna Karenina" has been Jude Law. Full of steely, dignified reserve, letting the aggression toward his unfaithful titular wife out through clenched nobility, Law is rather sublime in the film. Most attention has been paid to Keira Knightley, and with due cause, but I was more mesmerized by what her co-star offered. And cast-mates Alicia Vikander and Matthew Macfadyen could also do with a little attention. - Kristopher Tapley
