Kacey Mottet Klein - 'Sister'
From Quvenzhané Wallis to Tom Holland to the aforementioned Elle Fanning, it's been a banner year for advanced work from child actors. For me, however, no kid this year struck a brighter spark than 14-year-old Mottet Klein, who, as a smart, semi-feral artful dodger criminally subsisting on the moneyed slopes of tourist ski resorts, carries this tough-minded but beguiling Swiss Oscar submission on his slender shoulders. Hugely charismatic but never panderingly cute, he keenly delineates a character whose elastic sense of morality and soured social expectation isn't merely precocious, but complex on an adult level. - Guy Lodge
