Best Cinematography - "Under the Skin"
At year's end, director Jonathan Glazer will get his share of honors for his masterpiece "Under the Skin," but it would be wise for critics groups to realize cinematographer Daniel Landin also had a good deal to do with it. The commercial and music video veteran has lent his skills to acclaimed videos such as Massive Attack's "Teardrop" (you can see the birth of a "Skin" aesthetic to a degree), Bjork's "Hunter" and Lana Del Rey's "Young & Beautiful," among others. He may have few film credits on his resume, but Landin's collaboration with Glazer created some of the most striking images in any film of the past decade. His lack of industry notoriety will probably work against him, so you might have to start the campaign now, A24 (hint, hint).
