10 Oscar winners who would make good supeheroes or supervillains

Adrien Brody

Adrien Brody

Let's face it: Adrien Brody's career hasn't exactly been on fire the last few years. Since becoming the youngest person ever to win the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Roman Polanski's "The Pianist" back in 2003, his filmography has been undeniably spotty. His stumbling career could really use a superhero franchise right about now, and at 39 it's certainly still possible - after all, Robert Downey Jr. was already 43 years old when the first "Iron Man" hit theaters. The question is, which character is the right fit for him? While he's not necessarily a traditional action hero type - though he did acquit himself well in the Nimrod Antal-directed "Predators" - he's already been rumored as a possibility for the role of Mr. Fantastic in Fox's brewing reboot of "Fantastic Four," and with his long-limbed frame we can't say it's a bad idea. Previous talk has also surrounded the potential of him starring in Edgar Wright's solo "Ant-Man" effort, and with that film already slated for release in 2015, sounds like it's time for his reps to get on the phone and start pushing.

I'm really glad whoever compiled this list isn't in casting. Penelope Cruz for Wonder Woman?? She can't even speak with an English accent let alone look like an Amazonian. Good grief.

Adrien Brody- always liked the idea of him playing "Ant-Man" but I am open to the idea of Brody being Mr. Fantastic in a reboot.

Penelope Cruz- ?? Like someone already said, tough to see her as a superhero or a supervillain. I'd almost say Catwoman in the upcoming Batman reboot but...ok now I regret saying that... :/

Matt Damon- definitely a hero. Maybe The Flash? Or Aquaman, if they really do a Justice League film? Maybe some kind of supporting character in the Cinematic Marvel Universe?

Daniel Day-Lewis- Bad guy definitely. Would love to see him as Lex Luthor in a "Man of Steel" sequel.

Jennifer Hudson- Vixen is Justice League? Maybe a Gal Pal in a "Black Panther" movie?

Jeremy Irons- Perhaps in the Batman reboot he could be Mr. Freeze? Always say Irons as a Mr. Freeze.

Sean Penn- I'd also say he's a potential candidate for Luthor in a "Man of Steel" sequel but based on his photo above, maybe Kraven the Hunter in "Amazing Spider-man 2?"

Philip Seymour Hoffman- MODOK? Doc Ock? Doctor Doom? Something about him just screams Marvel bad guy to me.

    Meryl Streep- LOL really?

Tilda Swinton- Some kind of evildoer don't know who though. I will see...

these are just my dinky ideas, what can you guys picture?
