10 New Shows We're Looking Forward To After Upfronts 2012
'Mindy Project,' 'Revolution' and 'Last Resort' lead the way
'666 Park Avenue'
"666 Park Avenue" (ABC)
Sunday at 10 p.m.
Why we're intrigued: HitFix's Chris Eggertsen has already broken down some of the VERY obvious horror predecessors to this haunted apartment drama, but that doesn't mean there isn't potential value to the merging of "Dirty Sexy Money"-style opulent soap opera hijinks with "Rosemary's Baby" or "Kingdom." The trailer comes across as pretty self-consciously nutso, which could be really enjoyable in the hands of pros like Terry O'Quinn and Vanessa Williams, plus pretty folks like Dave Annable and Rachael Taylor. Plus, director Alex Graves ("The Nine," "Fringe") has been know to give good pilot.
Why we're cautious: "Self-consciously nutso" invariably walks a fine line between "pleasure," "guilty pleasure" and "unbearable trash." So who knows? Also, I've made around six predictions based on the trailer alone and if those predictions are all true... well... "666 Park Avenue" would be very predictable indeed.

There's probably room in the margins for variation based on the whole aspect of him being out of his element here in America. That said, I'm not particularly enthusiastic that CBS is going to allow much exploration of that vein.
