10 music artists ready for a comeback
From Aretha Franklin to Shania Twain, The Cars to Justin Timberlake
Garbage
Back in the '90s, you could throw a rock anywhere and hit a Garbage, well, hit, from "Stupid Girl" to "Special" to "Only Happy When It Rains." After a spectacular fall from view with their third full-length in 2001, they made a brief return with a new album in 2005, which had minor success in Europe. But Shirley Manson and Company want back on the map, and are planning a new studio album to show for it. The singer recorded the version of the song "The Hunger" for Serj Tankian's musical "Prometheus Bound" recently, and then took to her Facebook page to declare "Back in the studio as of yesterday with the boys..... We are getting up a nice head of steam as we really start to hone in and select tracks for the final collection......... Dare I suggest we will have something finished by the summer?!?!?!?!”
Likelihood of a full comeback: Dodgy, but possible. "The Hunger" sounds like Manson's voice is as strong as ever. Their last "Bleed Like Me" sounded just like the '90s, which may have a more positive impact now that the decade is long past (just look at the Foos). Just give us a hook.
