10 least-deserving Oscar winners for Best Original Song
'Talk To The Animals' from 'Doctor Dolittle' (1967)
Why it didn't deserve the win: In the case of the dueling animal movies, the live action “Doctor Dolittle’s” “Talk to the Animals” beat out Disney cartoon “The Jungle Book’s” “The Bare Necessities,” though the latter has certainly proven to be the classic tune of the pair. But more erroneously, Oscar voters chose “Talk To The Animals” over the lush “The Look Of Love,” written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. “Love” received a little love from another august body, however. In 2008, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Better choice: “The Look Of Love” (“Casino Royale”)

Trey Parker was fully comfortable and prepared to lose to any of the other nominees...except Phil Collins, which was the blandest, most risk free nomination. He's been quite vocal about his disgust in the years since. Phil even made an unflattering appearance on SP in reaction to it.
ceggertsen Ha! I remember that episode...good one.
