10a. 'Adventures of Superman'
Best known for: That booming voiceover intro with all the expected trappings: "faster than a speeding bullet," "mild mannered reporter Clark Kent," "truth, justice and the American way," etc.
Why: Hey, if I had my druthers, this would be higher and certainly not tied for the bottom of the pile, but c'est la vie. A superstar of the serials era, "Adventures of Superman" set the bar early on. It may not have been taken too seriously but it nailed down a formula and others sought out similar success. Sadly, these days it's mostly a trivia question regarding the curious circumstances surrounding George Reeves' death, but the first appearance of Superman on the small screen holds a special place for this viewer. (Fun fact: Reeves was played by Ben Affleck in the 2006 film "Hollywoodland," making him the only person to play both Superman -- kind of -- AND Batman.)
