'Evil Dead 2'
1981's "The Evil Dead" was a lower-than-low budget shocker shot in the woods by future "Spider-Man" helmer Sam Raimi and starring his goofy pal Bruce Campbell. For a sequel to the surprise hit, Raimi and Campbell basically just remade the original with a bigger budget, adding more than just a dash of slapstick comedy to lighten up the gory proceedings -- without sacrificing scares or Raimi's inventive camera moves. Campbell deserves a million Oscars just for the scene in which he wrestles with his own possessed arm. Things got even more out there for 1993's "Army of Darkness," but horror took a backseat to fantasy elements and broad laughs. Fans have been clamoring for a fourth installment for years, but will have to make do with the Raimi-approved remake that's currently in-the-works.
