10 great horror movie sequels
Can 'Paranormal Activity 4' or 'Silent Hill 2' measure up to these picks?
'28 Weeks Later'
When a new director is brought on for the sequel to a visionary classic like Danny Boyle's "28 Days Later," the results don't often live up to the original. But Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo managed to not only live up to Boyle's film but to stage several stunning action sequences that retained the kinetic, you-are-there immediacy of "Later" while amping up the firepower and sense of scope.

They have gremlins 2 on here and not saw 2 ???? Not even a mention to Texas chainsaw or Friday the 13th the classics ??? The second Friday the 13 th was pretty good especially for a sequel. Awful awful list good effort though fun topic !
PM The point of this list is sequels that have matched or surpassed the originals. As great as the Texas Chainsaw and Friday the 13th movies are, they did not pass the originals.

September 30, 2012 at 8:29AM EST Reply to CommentSome good choices marked with some pretty terrible ones! Are you seriously telling me that A Nightmare on Elm St. 3 is as good as or better than the original? Also 28 weeks later is not half as good as Danny Boyles film. I think you need to broaden your scope and think twice before making such an atrocious list and then defending it! Last time I read any of the articles on this site!
Jdeath Good, go back to jacking off to My Little Pony. You won't be missed.
