Only two hosts have ever come back for seconds
MTV has always kept a revolving door on its hosting gig for the annual film awards showcase, which makes sense as the host is meant to capture something in the zeitgeist, and that changes year to year. To date, only two individuals have hosted the show twice: Jimmy Fallon and Mike Myers. Fallon may have transitioned over to late night's most coveted job, but in the mid-2000s he was a "Saturday Night Live" sensation, which landed him a co-hosting spot alongside Kirsten Dunst in 2001 and then a solo spot four years later in 2005. Myers, meanwhile, is the only one to do it by himself twice, but they were under drastically different circumstances. It made sense for him to tackle it in 1997 as his film "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" was blowing up at the box office. But when he came back over a decade later in 2008, it was obviously an attempt to stir up some awareness for his film "The Love Guru" and, well, we all know how that turned out.
