2012 Oscar nominations, by the numbers
As everyone reading this certainly knows by now, Hollywood is ultimately a numbers game. In the conference rooms of the industry's movers and shakers, all talk of artistry and technical brilliance takes a backseat to simple mathematics - in short, "how much money will this film potentially make for myself and my investors, and what are the chances that it will succeed in a fickle marketplace?" All of that said, in the following gallery we're less concerned with monetary values and more with breaking down the 2012 Academy Award nominations in terms of pure numbers, without all those pesky dollars and cents attached.
