'Star Trek,' 'The World's End,' 'Thor 2' ... and 'Metallica: Through the Never?'
'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug'
Why it was awesome: A lot of people have cast the first two "Hobbit" films aside because they're far sillier than the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, but that's what "The Hobbit" at least should aspire to be. Here, it excels at its lighter nature with some amazing choreography and the goofy premise of staging a fight from wood barrels with axes, sticks and swords on moving water. Evangeline Lilly, as Tauriel, is a total badass, and she and Orlando Bloom together make for a limber, deadly pair of fighters in this equally treacherous and funny battle.
