After scoring a best actress Oscar for 2001's "Monster's Ball" and co-starring in the successful "X-Men" films, Berry has had a difficult time finding material suited to her abilities. Sometimes overreaching with failed Oscar bait like "Things We Lost in the Fire" and "Frankie and Alice," she's also gone too far in the dumbed down direction with films such as "New Year's Eve," "Dark Tide" and, of course, "Catwoman." Neither approach seems to be working. Perhaps the happy medium is Tarantino's perfectly middlebrow universe, where she can do over-the-top in high style.
