That is in fact exactly what happens here, and, awesomely, rather than just going on the straight-and-narrow, our ex-con and master thief keeps up with his nefarious activities. He may be the pretend sheriff, but he's still a real thief, and he's going to be exercising those thieving powers. Anthony Starr is playing this 'sheriff' and he's totally got 'shadowy gangsters' on his tail.
